Injection pen

GLP-1 is a treatment for diabetes and is used "off-label" for weight loss in adults with a BMI ≥30, or ≥27 in the presence of weight-related conditions. It suppresses appetite and promotes weight loss. Its active mechanism helps lower blood sugar levels when they are too high.

GLP-1 is supplied in a pre-filled weight loss injection pen. One pen contains 4 doses. One dose is injected each week. The medication can be self-administered. This solution is available in various strengths from 0.25 mg to 1.0 mg.

The injection solution comes in a pen. Please also read the user manual included in the packaging. This medication must be injected just under the skin in the thigh, abdomen, or upper arm. The medication should be injected once a week. Choose a fixed day of the week for this. Note this day on the calendar provided in the packaging or in your mobile phone. It does not matter whether this medication is injected before, during, or after a meal. The injection can be used at any time of the day. However, choose a fixed time to make it easier to remember. The fixed day of injection can be changed, provided there are at least 3 days between two injections.

The starting dose is 0.25 mg once a week. After 4 weeks, the dosage should be increased to 0.5 mg once a week. After at least 4 weeks at a dosage of 0.5 mg once a week, the dosage can be increased to 1 mg once a week (and potentially increased further to 2 mg per week after four weeks).

If a dose is missed, it should be administered as soon as possible and within 5 days of the missed dose. If more than 5 days have passed, the missed dose should be skipped and the next dose should be administered on the usual scheduled day. In both cases, you can then resume your regular weekly dosing schedule.
